our offering
mediation is a process where a neutral third party serves as an intermediary and supports the parties in the amicable resolution of the dispute.
the adversarial system of dispute resolution – where parties are pitted against each other, like in litigation – can be divisive and create more discord. mediation is a cheaper, quicker, and more efficient alternative to litigation. it creates pathways for coexistence through co-created solutions that centre equity and party agency, and preserve relationships.
mediation at civitatem involves providing constructive, co-creative, and community centric pathways for the sustainable resolution of all kinds of disputes.

how does mediation work?
step 1: convening
we begin by bringing both parties to the mediation to understand the way the process will unfold, answer questions, and set expectations. this will help set the context for mediation, from which we will proceed.
step 2: mediation
through a mix of joint and individual meetings, we will meet over several sessions to talk through the key issues and concerns the parties would like to bring to the table. parties can bring in experts if they so wish, too.
step 3: settlement
bringing the mediation process to an end, the settlement will bring the terms of the parties’ agreement on paper. these terms hold as the parties are accountable to each other and the process of mediation.
